Producer: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Description: Free service provides access to genealogical information on millions of individuals from several countries, including the U.S. The information comes from census records, vital (birth, death, marriage) records, social security records, and other sources. Geographic coverage varies greatly.
Important note: You may need to register (free) to view documents.
A better resource for searching U.S. Census records is Ancestry Library Edition.
Usage Tips: Searching is fairly straightforward; if you enter too much or too little information, the system will let you know what you need to do.
You can fashion a more complex search by selecting the Advanced Search option.

It is possible to do geographical searching, without specifying a particular name, by using the Record Search "pilot" option, although entering a "Place" is a bit tricky. The information must be entered hierarchically, such as Rockbridge Virginia United States or Buena Vista Rockbridge Virginia United States. The system's auto-complete function may make this easier.

The format of Results will vary, depending upon the source from which information is derived. Records may include links to pedigree charts, family groups, a PDF copy of the original document, etc.
